Sad news came through this a.m. – I suppose I’ll preface it with a short story. During the recording of the song “The T.S.K.” I utilized the talents of the now defunct, yet eternally present, band, Looney Mill. As the recording session unfolded, in walks Marcus Buckner, one of Looney Mill’s guitarists. With no direction and very little instruction, he sat in and recorded slide guitar, organ, rhythm guitar, and lead guitar. The end result was exactly what I had aimed for; raw, jangly, free, improvised, and melodic.

I didn’t know Marcus extremely well but he was always kind to me. Sadly, sparing details, he passed away this morning. It’s really strange to go back and listen to this song and hear his love for music and think that there is no longer a physical body connected to that sound.

It’s a reminder that life is brief, so go and do. He’ll live on forever in my mind through this recording. Take a listen & enjoy his talent. It’s really beautiful guitar work, because it came from a really beautiful person.
